In an emergency such as collapse, breathing difficulties, loss of consciousness, or serious injury - any problem which appears to demand IMMEDIATE medical attention, you should dial 999.

Your call will be handled by NHSdirect, and then a doctor will call you back if necessary.

If it is necessary for you to see a doctor you will be asked to attend the STARDOC centre at the hospital. Visits are offered if the doctor feels it is appropriate, and this is generally to the housebound or those too unwell to leave their home. Lack of transport, at whatever time of the day or night, is not a reason for a home visit.
