Watford Borough Council has almost completed work on the new road at the rear of
Watford General Hospital.
The new road will bring huge benefits to Watford. Most importantly, it will reduce the
time it takes ambulances to get in and out of A&E. It should also improve traffic flow
across the town, making it easier for staff and patients to go to and from the hospital.
The road will be called ‘Thomas Sawyer Way’ and will open on Wednesday 16
November, running from Wiggenhall Road.
The changes will affect the driving routes into Watford General Hospital. New
signage across and on the outskirts of Watford will help visitors and staff find their
way in, around and out of the hospital. Please see attached map showing the
changes being put in place.
Teething problems are expected as drivers familiarise themselves with the new
routes so we have been working with Watford Borough Council to minimise
disruption. The Trust will have additional staff on site during the transition to ensure
that everyone gets to their intended destination as quickly and easily as possible.
